MEAL PLANS
College life can be challenging, but dining should be effortless. That's why all students living on campus are required to participate in a meal plan.
Dining is an essential part of the Colby student experience – providing the fuel students need for academic, social, and athletic success and serving as hubs for building community around the table. This guide will help you make the most of the Colby dining program, so you can enjoy the convenience and variety available. Quality is at the core of what we do, ensuring satisfying meal experiences that are fresh, creative, seasonal, and made-from-scratch.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where can I use meal swipes?
Meal swipes can be used all across campus! Use for access to one of our three all-you-care-to-eat dining halls in Dana, Foss, or Roberts or for a meal exchange combo at The Spa, The Pub, or the Colby Eats food truck.
How frequently can I swipe?
Once you swipe for entry to a dining hall or for a meal exchange combo, you will have to wait 22 minutes to be able to use another swipe.
Can I treat a friend or family member to a meal?
Each meal plan includes 5 guest meals that can be used for a friend or family member. Otherwise, meal plan swipes are intended to be used only by the meal plan holder.
What is included in a “Pick 4 Meal” exchange at The Spa?
Use a meal swipe at The Spa for your choice of entrée + 2 sides + fountain beverage. More of a snacker? You could also choose 3 sides + fountain beverage if you want.
Can I use the Inspired Eats space in Dana?
Absolutely! The Inspired Eats space in Dana is entirely free of the top 9 food allergens (and gluten!) to ensure that every one at Colby can feel confident eating at the table.
To protect the integrity of the space from cross-contamination, the door requires you to badge in with your Colby ID - just to serve as a small moment to pause and make sure nothing is being brought in from other stations.
Why is the food different than the menu?
This could be for one of two reasons:
Our chefs spend a great deal of time thinking through each day's menu offerings, however it's not uncommon for orders and deliveries from our numerous vendor partners to force pivots on what was planned.
And while we do our very best to update our menu as things change, it's also possible that a menu item was so popular that we had to offer up an alternate selection for that station.
Why are the bowls smaller than before?
It was definitely time for new dishes, so you may notice the plates and bowls in our dining halls have changed. These were chosen to be the most nimble for your dining needs and efficient for dishwashing and processing back to the servery. While the bowls are a bit smaller, keep in mind that you can always come back for more!
What happened to the paper plates, bowls, and cups?
In recent years, paper products were often needed because the dishwashing machines had trouble keeping up with the volume. All of the dish machines have either seen substantial repairs or replacements so we're thrilled to get back to using reusable dishes and being aligned with our sustainability goals and commitments.
