My family’s cats were adopted from the Waterville Humane Society, and we know that many of you support the shelter as well. Thank you for all that you do!! We adopted our cats during the COVID period , and we’re so grateful we were able to give them a safe, loving, and secure home. Our Olly was diagnosed with the highest graded heart murmur a cat can receive. But look at him loving life and being the absolute love in our family! A big thank you to everyone who supports local animal shelters and assists in giving these sweet animals the second chances they deserve. Students, we applaud you!! Colby Dining went off the map!🔥 We went completely off-menu to celebrate the return of our student leaders and student athletes, and let’s just say… it was EPIC. Loaded baked potato bar with freshly chopped bacon, vegan chili and beef chili, burgers, hot dogs, those hand-breaded chicken tenders you all love! And of course wings, spanakopita, mac & cheese bites… we brought the works! But honestly, the best part for me was watching our amazing team make it all happen behind the scenes. Every dipping sauce (5!) was made from scratch. From Chef Sean’s ranch to Carolina BBQ and so many more, our team brought the special love. We ❤️ our students this much! What a kickoff! We had the best time collaborating with the Student Planning Board on this family style Palentine’s Dinner! Each table kicked things off with charcuterie, Caesar salad, and yeast rolls served with whipped honey butter. Our main course lineup featured chicken Parmesan, tofu Milanese, cheese ravioli with Fra Diavolo sauce, and roasted broccolini with lemon-infused olive oil. The dessert buffet was almost too pretty to eat! Red velvet cupcakes, Black Forest cupcakes, and heart-shaped cookies. But let’s be honest… the real star of the night was the chocolate fountain with all of the fixings! We truly appreciate our partnerships with student groups across campus and look forward to many more special events like this. 💘 Team Member Tuesday: Valentine’s Edition! 💘 This week we’re featuring a very special Valentine’s-centered teammate! Meet Kody! Kody has been with us for 10 years, starting when he was just 16. On his first day, he met his future wife, Leah. She trained him, and the rest is history! Together, they worked their way up through the company, and today Kody is one of our Sous Chefs and a serious pizza extraordinaire! 🍕🔥 Kody also works alongside his father, Rob, who helped spark his love for cooking early on. One of his favorite memories? Learning how to cook lobsters with his dad as a special Valentine’s gift for his mom.🦞❤️ What Kody loves most about Leah: “She’s like lava, everything folds and melts around her.” Awww! They share their life (and creativity!) with their four-year-old son, Daniel, who loves making art and kitchen creations with his parents. Always smiling and ready to lend a hand, Patty loves working at Colby because of the amazing students and her supportive teammates. She especially enjoys helping new team members learn the ropes and loves interacting with what she calls “the kindest students around.” Patty receives many compliments on her hair style, and feels right at home here! 💙 When she’s not at work, Patty enjoys fishing, watching movies, and spending time with her family (and her four adorable rescue cats: Angel, Sassy, Frosty, and Lexi 🐾). 🎉 It’s Team Member Tuesday! 🎉 Say Hello to Chef Van Clark! 👨‍🍳 Van has been a dedicated Sous Chef at Colby for an incredible 47 years! His passion for great food and commitment to our community have made him a true campus legend. Over the course of his career, Colby has sent Van to the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena, California, Johnson & Wales University, and St. Johnsbury Academy in Vermont. Van has seen four Colby Presidents throughout his time on campus and was one of only two chefs ever invited to the Cotter family home for Christmas. Van’s three children grew up playing on the Colby campus, which Van proudly calls his second home. Every day, he’s here bright and early, arriving at 4 a.m. and wrapping up around 1 p.m., making sure that everything is prepped and running smoothly. 🎉 It’s International Chefs Day! Today we’re serving up some serious appreciation for all of our amazing campus chefs! In the spotlight today is Chef Adam Lawrence, Executive Chef at Dana!👨‍🍳 With us since 2017 and officially on the executive chef team for the last two months, Chef Adam brings more than just delicious food to the table! His dish of choice to serve up? Laughter! Great choice, Adam! 🌎 From Maine to SoCal (18 years on the West Coast!) and back again, Adam has lived coastal, central, and even on an island. 🎉 Meet Zack! 🎉 If you’ve been to the Spa, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Zack and left with a smile! 😄 Zack has been part of the Colby Dining team for 4 years, and he’s known for his upbeat spirit and signature phrases like: ✨ “You’re amazing!” ✨ “Keep on smiling!” And when you ask how he’s doing? 💬 “Stupidly, terrifically, amazingly awesome!” Zack’s favorite campus food? 🍕 Pepperoni pizza! All day, any day! Originally from Skowhegan, Zack is a proud Mainer who loves winter (“because it keeps the bugs away!” ❄️). 🌟 Meet Dorinda! 🌟 Before joining the Colby Dining team at Foss Dining Hall in August, Dorinda owned D’s Bakery in Waterville for 12 years and worked as a chef and baker in several nursing homes, where her love of food and care for people truly shone!👩‍🍳💙 At Foss, she loves the salad bar and fresh fruit and would like to give a special shoutout to Connie for keeping it so fresh! 🥗🍓 Dorinda’s also a fan of all the tasty chicken dishes on the menu. Outside of work, Dorinda is a big sports fan, having two sons who were active in sports growing up.
